Wanda Olech new president in PROP

2016-05-20

Professor Wanda Olech, Warsaw University of Life Science, and president of the European Bison Friend Society have been elected to be President of the State Council for Nature Conservation in Poland (PROP). It is an advisory board for the Minister of the Environment.

The new members of the PROP were appointed last week, May 16, by the Minister of Environment Jan Szyzko. Wanda Olech has already been a member of the Council in the years 2009 - 2014 acting as a President of the Committee for the protection of animals, but she was cancelled by the previous leadership Ministry.
- There are many important tasks that are lagging behind, said Wanda Olech, for example more than 80 opinions concerning CITES, with regard to international trade in plants and wild animals. This must be done quickly. The Council also needs to develop new work plans for the six Committees, among other things, the members of PROP should participate in the designation of National Park directors. And in addition, a new professional home page showing the Council´s work is taken forward, consider Wanda Olech.
